Wow. We had a great D-n-D session today. And I don't always say that. But, a lot of plot and character happened AND the party beat up some nasty monsters while Liandra (my character...a druid healer) and Larissa (our sorceress) healed a mystical dragon and Larissa became empress! We also found out more about our fighter, Turok and why he came to our land from his. (A side note: Turok's player plays the foreign aspect by speaking with an exagerated Russian accent...it is good fun) Also, Mike played Viggo along with Kyle tonight and kicked major ass. It was all great fun.

It was also a lot more complex than this but what a night! :-)

Oh yeah...Turok died again, and we are down to one pearl. Yikes.

I really appreciated the thought that went into Liandra's ritual. It was much more satisfying to hear the words than just "I cast Heal". That was really nifty.

Larissa became empress???

Sounds like I certainly haven't been keeping up on my ralph_dnd lurking...

Well, personally I think that's a bit premature (Larissa is on track to become empress), but I'm also behind in writing the game journal. Since the last update we have spoken with the oracle at the gorge of fire, attacked Garrett and Melisande (mostly successfully), recovered Weeping Wounds, and -- at yesterday's game -- used Weeping Wounds for the first time (since the last emperor died) in the ritual to heal Agondre. This last is something of a staying action; we can't really heal the dragon until we recover one more artifact.

We know from the oracle that there is correlation between "the one who heals Agondre" and "the emperor (or emperess)", but we're not certain in which direction the causality runs. That said, Larissa has now done this once and plans to finish the job if not prevented.

(The task involves transferring some of Agondre's sickness to the person participating in the ritual, so there's not necessarily a long line forming.)

I hadn't yet seen your comment when I posted mine.

It is true that the cheering throngs have not lined up just yet ;-)

Just as well -- we've done nothing to plan the celebration of Agondre's health! All those people and nowhere to put them... not good. :-)

(More seriously, I don't think we're declaring anything until the healing is truly done. Meanwhile, we'll have to gather the dukes together and let them in on what's been going on.)

With the right preparations, the fire doesn't need to be illusionary. :-)

"Not necessarily a long line forming" may be an understatement. Most of the people in line don't realize what they're really lining up for.

Yup.

I'm starting to think that sometime before the final healing, we need to arrange for the dukes to come on a field trip so that they will understand the problem. This will lead to word getting out on the street, which I hesitated to do before we had Weeping Wounds (who needs mass panics?), but now that we've been able to begin an actual solution it might be time to bring the dukes in, at least. I mean, they understood at some level because they've been getting sick, but they might need a fuller understanding.

Or not -- I'm thinking out loud here. When Larissa recovers enough to be able to talk to anyone she's planning to call Lord Marius with an update. She can seek his advice at that time.
