Last night Dani, Kevin, and Ralph played out their side of what happens next after the vampire fight. I was also there, though of course my character wasn't. Ralph asked me to post a summary.

(Starting state: Turok is flying and invisible; Prolix is flying and visible but can see invisible. Turok is mostly healthy, having been restored by Liandra before fleeing. Prolix is completely healthy but very low on spells. Turok has been dominated by Garrett, though Prolix does not yet know this.)

After using Dimension Door to escape Garrett's lair, Prolix and Turok found themselves several hundred feet in the air above an ominous-looking, windowless castle. Though it was mid-day, the sky was quite gloomy. A road led away from the castle, so having no better fix on direction or location, they decided to follow it (from the air), hustling. When the fly spells wore off, they walked (probably staying off the road). There was no immediate pursuit.

As nightfall approached, they looked for a place to hide. Prolix proposed spending the night in a Rope Trick, an extra-dimensional space, but he then realized that his scroll would provide only three hours of safety. They cast it anyway so they could figure out their next steps. While inside, Prolix retrieved his spell books from the glove and stored the dagger Weeping Wounds there instead.

Once they were inside the rope trick the domination on Turok was suspended, and Turok told Prolix that he was being influenced by Garrett. He was afraid that Garrett would command him to kill Prolix, so they decided that Prolix would flee now and Turok would stay in the rope trick as long as possible, putting some distance between them. Prolix used Alter Self to grow wings, and then flew (clumsily) out. Time now approximately 5pm. (It's winter.) Prolix: "Next time we attack a vampire, we'll do it in mid-summer!"

After about an hour and a quarter, Prolix began to look for a hiding place for the night so he could sleep and recover spells. He used Dancing Lights to aid in the search, trying not to be seen from too great a distance. He found something (I didn't note what) and settled in. Time now approximately 6:30pm.

At approximately 8pm the rope trick ended. Turok peeked out, saw nothing suspicious, and then climbed out, to be met by Garrett. Turok hit him once with Kotara-nar before Garrett used a combination of grappling and commanding to neutralize Turok. He then said "tell me about the gnome", and Turok said he was gone. Further questioning under pressure produced the answer that Prolix had flown away, trying to get as far from the castle as possible.

Garrett commanded Turok to go to the castle and pointed the way. He then summoned vast swarms of bats, commanding them to fan out and find Prolix.

Abut four hours later a bat found Prolix sleeping. It returned to Garrett and Garrett arrived a couple hours later. Time: approximately 2am.

Prolix awoke to Garrett's entry (and said "hello", as I recall), but was unable to cast any spells before Garrett grappled and held him. The grapple prevented spells with somatic components (which is almost all of them), so Prolix tried to retrieve a losenge of glibness from his pouch. He was not able to ingest it before Garrett covered his mouth, however, inflicting negative levels.

Garrett subdued Prolix into unconsciousness and then carried him back to the castle, where he stripped him of all possessions and chained him up. I don't remember Ralph saying anything more about Turok's fate. I presume he's been relieved of all gear, but do not know if he is also chained up somewhere.

I wasn't taking notes, so if I left anything out or got anything wrong, I hope Ralph will correct me.

Sigh. Rescuing him will be tricky, won't it?

I agree...the next d-n-d session is just the 3 of us who escaped, so we can make a plan there or this week...though I suspect Ralph wants us to wait on our next attack. I could be wrong here -- we haven't been married long enough for me to infallibly read his mind ;-)

Oh my, none of that sounds good. Maybe I shouldn't have read all that.
